Most Asked Questions
Should I wear clothes when doing my measurements?
It is a good rule of thumb to take your measurements with only underwear on to get the most
accurate results. The exception to this is if you plan to wear your item over other clothing ie: chaps
over jeans. If this is the case, take the measurements over the garment you intend to wear under your
leather.
Can your team help me do my measurements correctly?
If you require help taking accurate measurements please let us know. We can either
schedule a fitting to help you get measured in store, or talk you through it over the phone or via a facetime
appointment.
Should I hold in my stomach when taking my waist measurement or just relax?
Relax, stand up straight and try to hold your arms loosely by your side. This will result
in the most accurate measurements. If you pull the tape too tight when taking measurements you will most
likely end up with a garment that is too small, which may be uncomfortable for moving, sitting or breathing
in. If possible, get a friend to take your measurements for you while in this position.
I have a bit of a tummy, are there any specific adjustments I need to make?
If you have a larger waist, don't measure over the tummy when taking your hip measurement,
unless you are intending to wear the item you're keen on over your stomach when it arrives. For larger
folks, it's best to take your hip measurement where the waistband of the jeans/pants/underwear you normally wear
would sit, and where you expect the waistband of the item you are buying would sit on your body. For most
people, this would be under the stomach, measuring flat around the hipbones and pelvis, rather than over the
stomach.
Can I buy your leather pants in the same size as the denim jeans I wear? Or buy a medium
leather shirt because I wear medium t-shirts normally?
The size you buy in any other brand of clothing is made to their own set of measurements, so you
may be a different size in our leather clothing. Also, leather can have a lot less give than other
fabrics. Please measure yourself and refer to our measurement charts on the specific product page to get the right fit.
Will the leather give over time, and should I therefore buy something smaller than my
measurements?
Leather does give over time to fit the contours of your body and how you move in the
garment. However, it should not stretch so much that you need a smaller size than your measurements
indicate. All waistbands are reinforced with a non stretch layer so they will hold their size with
wear. Buying a size smaller size than your measurements will result in a garment that does not fit well or
even at all.
What should I do if one measurement falls within one size (e.g. waist) but another measurement
(e.g. thigh) falls into a different size?
This depends on the product you are ordering. Please contact us before placing your order
if your measurements don't fit within the recommendations for one of our leather items. It might be that
you will need to order the item in line with your largest measurement, but it's also possible that you will
require a customised fit (for an additional fee).
I am fairly tall / short, can you do customisation on the length of your leather products?
For a small additional fee, our in stock 501 Jeans, Chaps and the Saddle Shorts can be shortened
to your size within 1-2 weeks. Any other items requiring length customisation are made to order.
These items attract a custom fit fee and are made in line with our pre-order timeframes.
